The Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2021 signed by the President on December 27 is a very comprehensive relief law but here are some of the highlights: (1) It provides a $600 stimulus check for eligible individuals, which have already been issued; (2) It provides tax deductibility for PPP loan expenses; (3) PPP loan recipients are eligible for the employee retention credit; (4) the employee retention credit has been expanded; (5) It provides for 100% deductibility of restaurant business meals for 2021 and 2022; (6) It provides for expansion of the above-the-line charitable deduction (7) It adds $300 to extended weekly unemployment benefits through March 14, 2021 and (8) It provides for a second round of small business PPP loans. There are many other provisions too numerous to list out here.
