Here are some suggestions for recovering your financial records if they are lost or destroyed in a hurricane or other natural disaster: (1) get a copy of your tax transcript from the IRS; (2) Request copies of records (bank statements, etc.) from financial institutions; (3) Talk to the contrators who built your home or made improvements to obtain those values; (4) check with the Probate Court to get the value of inherited property; (5) check your credit card records; (6) check with Kelly Blue Book, etc. for vehicle values; (7) check your insurance policy for the listed values of assets.  I hope this helps.
