There are several special tax benefits available to active members of the Armed Forces. Some of these are: (1) If there is a permanent change of post, the member gets a moving expense deduction; (2) There is special favorable tax treatment for combat pay; (3) If one is on active duty, he is entitled to extended tax filing deadlines; (4) There are possible deductions for job hunting expenses; (5) There is a deduction for uniform cost and upkeep if they are prohibited from being worn off duty; (6) There is a deduction for Reservists for unreimbursed travel expenses if traveling more than 100 miles away from home.
